🧺 Laundry Room

A simple guide to keeping things smooth, clean, and respectful.

At Hilltop Retreat, we’re happy to provide access to a private laundry room for your convenience. Whether you're freshening up towels, washing clothes after a swim, or preparing for departure, the washer, dryer, sink, and folding counter are here to make your stay easier. Because this is a private property (not a hotel), we ask that you follow the guidelines below to protect the appliances, manage hydro costs, and ensure the next guest enjoys the same clean, functional space.

What’s Available

  • ✔️ High-efficiency washer

  • ✔️ High-efficiency dryer

  • ✔️ Utility sink

  • ✔️ Folding counter (located behind the door)

Load Limit Policy

To manage hydro usage and prevent appliance overuse:

Guests are permitted a maximum of ONE (1) load per stay unless prior payment/approval is granted. If a guest requires additional loads (extended stays, emergencies, etc.), they must request approval in advance.

Laundry Access = 4+ Night Stays Only

  • 2–3 night stays → No laundry access

  • 4–6 nights → 1 load max

  • 7+ nights → 2 loads max

  • Additional loads → $25 per load add-on

Detergent & Supplies

Guests must supply their own:

  • Laundry detergent (HE compatible only)

  • Dryer sheets (optional)

  • Stain treatments or specialty products

🚫 Do not use excess bleach unless absolutely necessary and handled carefully.

🚫 Do not use pods in excessive quantities.

🚫 Be mindful of manufacturer guidelines.

Using the wrong detergent (non-HE) can damage the washer and create overflow or mechanical issues.

Proper Machine Use

Please treat the machines as if they were your own.

Washer Guidelines:

  • Do not overload.

  • Distribute clothing evenly.

  • Use correct cycle settings.

  • Remove items promptly after cycle completion.

  • Check pockets before washing (coins damage drums).

Dryer Guidelines:

  • Clean lint trap before and after use.

  • Do not overload.

  • Do not dry soaking wet or heavy items that exceed capacity.

  • Do not leave dryer running unattended for extended periods.

Overloading machines shortens their lifespan and can cause belt or motor failure.

Keeping the Laundry Room Clean

Before departure, please:

  • Wipe down washer and dryer surfaces.

  • Remove lint and debris.

  • Rinse the sink if used.

  • Clear detergent spills.

  • Leave the folding counter clean and dry.

  • Remove all personal laundry items.

The laundry room should be left in the same condition it was found.

Damages & Misuse

Laundry appliances are costly to repair and replace.

Guests will be financially responsible for:

  • Mechanical damage caused by misuse

  • Foreign object damage (coins, rocks, etc.)

  • Excess detergent overflow damage

  • Broken knobs or control panels

  • Burn damage from improper dryer use

  • Clogged drainage from inappropriate materials

Any repairs required due to improper use will be charged to the security deposit.

Why These Rules Matter

We cover hydro, maintenance, and appliance replacement. Excessive or improper use increases operating costs and shortens the life of the machines.

These guidelines help:

  • Keep rates fair for everyone

  • Prevent mid-stay breakdowns

  • Maintain a smooth experience for future guests

  • Protect the property long-term

We appreciate your respect for our home and the systems that keep it running smoothly. A little care goes a long way in maintaining a luxury guest experience for everyone.

Thank you for treating Hilltop Retreat like your own.
