Emergency Services Coverage Across Northumberland County (NoCo)

Your safety is our top priority. While emergencies are rare, it’s important to know that support is available and that clear procedures are in place should anything arise during your stay or time on the property. We maintain emergency readiness and service coordination across Northumberland County (NoCo) and surrounding areas to ensure timely assistance when it matters most.


On-Property Emergency Preparedness

To support guest safety, properties are equipped with:

  • Smoke and carbon monoxide detectors

  • Fire extinguishers

  • First aid kits

  • Clearly posted emergency contact information

  • House rules and safety guidelines outlined in the Welcome Guide, here in more detail, and the Rental Agreement

Guests are encouraged to review all safety materials upon arrival.

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) — Northumberland Detachment

Note: Municipal police service exists for Cobourg town specifically, but OPP covers the wider NoCo rural area and all emergency crime response

Emergency fire response is provided through local departments in each community:

Peterborough Regional Health Centre (PRHC)

In the Peterborough region, emergency response is coordinated by Peterborough County-City Paramedics and OPP / Peterborough Police depending on exact location


Fire Safety

If you detect smoke or fire:

  1. Evacuate the property immediately.

  2. Call 911 from a safe location.

  3. Do not re-enter the property until cleared by emergency personnel.


Medical Emergencies

If a medical emergency occurs:

  • Call 911 immediately.

  • Provide clear information about the location and nature of the emergency.

  • Follow the instructions of emergency responders.


Non-Emergency Issues

For non-urgent concerns (maintenance issues, power outages, appliance problems, etc.), contact the host or property manager directly. Please do not delay emergency services for urgent situations.
